I highly recommend you
install Windows XP SP2.
Features
The Pop-up Blocker really
works. It stops all of those annoying pop ups that can overtake
your computer at times. You'll find Pop-up Blocker settings in
Internet Explorer under Tools / Internet Options / Privacy.
If you are constantly
spending time to install Windows Updates, you'll love the new feature
in Windows XP SP2 that allows you to automatically download updates,
then later when you go to shut down, you're updates will be installed
then the computer will shut down on it's own.
Windows firewall is
another great feature. However, it can interfere with other
programs if you don't answer dialog boxes correctly. Personally,
I am a fan of using a hardware firewall (such as many of today's
inexpensive routers), so I have my Windows Firewall turned
off.
Problems
I have not found a single
problem related to Windows XP SP2.
Unrelated But Related
As I installed Windows XP
SP2 to my users, I also deployed Office 2003 updates such as SP1 and
etc. After doing this, I found that Office 2003 SP1 corrupts the
Blackberry user's files, which causes the Blackberry Desktop Manager to
crash and burn during synchronization. There is, however, an easy
fix for this.
